Heian Godan is one of the forms mentioned in the textbook Taekwondo (1) written by 최홍희 (Choi Hong-hui). More formally part of Karate, the form was omitted from later editions of the textbook, and is consequently no longer learnt by students of Taekwondo.

Many of the movements that appear in Heian Godan can be seen in the newer forms designed by Choi. Heian Godan contains the twin upward punch seen in Po-eun, and the spear-hand thrust followed by a low and a high forearm block seen in Toigye.

  • In Taekwondo (1), the positions of the letters in the floor diagram is different; they have been changed here for consistency.

Korean Date

The date today is,

4350 년 1 월 3 일 (4350, Month 1 Day 3) (28 February 2017 CE)

This is the date according to the traditional lunisolar calendar of Korea. (Note that this is not an authoritative calculation; I’m still working on the details.) The years count back to the legendary founding of Korea by 단군 왕검 (Dan-gun Wanggeom).
