Heian Nidan is one of the forms mentioned in the textbook Taekwondo (1) written by 최홍희 (Choi Hong-hui). More formally part of Karate, the form was omitted from later editions of the textbook, and is consequently no longer learnt by students of Taekwondo.

Heian Nidan shows numerous similarities to the form Wonhyo designed by Choi, and Heian Nidan is clearly the inspiration for Wonhyo. Both forms have the movement: twin outer-forearm block, inward strike, punch. Both forms have blade-hand guarding blocks followed by a spear-hand thrust. And both forms have the movement: circular block, front snapping kick, punch.
