Heian Shodan is one of the forms mentioned in the textbook Taekwondo (1) written by 최홍희 (Choi Hong-hui). More formally part of Karate, the form was omitted from later editions of the textbook, and is consequently no longer learnt by students of Taekwondo.

There are numerous similarities between Heian Shodan and the forms created by Choi. Heian Shodan contains the low outer-forearm block, punch combination seen in Cheonji. It’s floor diagram is very similar to that of Dan-gun, and it also contains the consecutive outer-forearm rising blocks seen in Dan-gun.
