Pyeong-won

평원, 平原

Sometimes written as Pyeongwon, Pyong-won, Pyongwon.

Interpretation

평원 (pyeong-won) refers to a vast plain, where human beings can cultivate fields and grow food to live. [1]

This form has many similarities to the Northern style form 포은 (po-eun), which is learnt at the level of first degree. Both forms are constrained to a line to the left and right, both contain the twin elbow strike technique, 평원 (pyeong-won) contains the cross stance and 포은 (po-eun) contains the very similar ‘x’ stance, 평원 (pyeong-won) contains the crane stance and 포은 (po-eun) contains the also very similar bending stance.
